About bass lessons

Bass is the backbone of every band — and our lessons are designed to get you in the groove from day one. Whether you’re drawn to funk, rock, jazz, or pop, we teach through the music you love.

What to expect

  • Learn electric bass (acoustic bass by arrangement)
  • Groove, rhythm, and timing fundamentals
  • Scales, arpeggios, and fretboard knowledge built through songs
  • Band skills — locking in with drums, supporting other musicians
  • Performance opportunities through Saturday Jams and Band Project

Who it’s for

Bass lessons are for all ages and levels. If you love rhythm and want to be the foundation of the sound, bass might be your instrument. Private and online lessons are available.

Bass questions, answered.

Do I need an amp at home?

A small practice amp helps, but it is not the first thing to buy — a bass and a set of headphones through a small amp or interface will get you through the early months. Talk to your teacher before spending anything; they will tell you what is worth it and what can wait.

Do I need to learn guitar first?

No. Bass is its own instrument with its own job, and we teach it from scratch — beginners through to band-ready players. If you love rhythm and want to be the foundation the whole song sits on, you can start here.

Will I get to play with other musicians?

Yes, and bass players are always in demand. Saturday Jams and the Band Project both put you in a room with other students, learning to lock in with a drummer and hold a song together, which is the part you cannot really practise alone.
